I recently visited the Copperstate Airshow at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport (KCGZ) in Casa Grande, AZ on Thursday (1st day of the airshow) and thought I would share some of my photos.
The airshow has been in existence since 1973 but this was the first time that I attended the airshow since until recently I lived in Florida. Interestingly enough I was told that my wife and I were the first ones from Nevada to show up that day! The airshow runs from Thursday to Saturday and although I could not stay for the whole event I thought it was great fun. Definitely will have to go again next year!
Admissions is simple, just purchase a ticket for the day or the entire event and catch a tram to the flight line.
The tram runs continuously but you can walk if you want.
The Flight line is along runway 5-23 with a great view of the mountains behind!
Plenty of airplanes in the line up but RV’s showed up in force early on.
Warbird section which grew in size as the event unfolded.
A 1937 Stinson and several Ercoupes in the background as well as the forum tents and a huge vendors tent to the right.
An RV 8A.
An RV9A (Can you tell I like RV’s)?
Dynon had displays inside the vendors area as well as these in their beautiful Glasair Sportsman.
Vans brought an RV12A and the RV14A.
